our special stallion Capatino GNZ by Casall Ask/calato

Welcome to Redcliffs Equestrian The home of bAREFOOT SHOW JUMPERS

The foundation Kates Riding Centre was started by Kate and previous partner when she was 23yrs old, it was a major hit with 3 instructors and 100 kids on the books within it's first few years. They were then introducted to keeping horses in a more natural state that being barefoot and coverless. She had already been learning Natural Horsemanship via American horsemen Tom Dorrance and Ray Hunt. Which all the great foundations that the new brand Redcliffs Equestrian are built on. Kate competed barefoot Eventing for many years getting to Advanced level on a 15.2hh TB called Striking Distance(who by the way is 26yrs old and still going strong!) He placed 4th overall in Kihikihi Advanced Horse Trial behind 3rd placed Stallion Internet(he was shod) owned and bred by Joss Bayly of Waitangi Sporthorses. This partnership was to have HUGE success over the next few years. Placing second at Puhunui 3*** they were longlisted for Athens 2004 Olympics and took on the trip of a lifetime. Internet became a World Wide Wonder horse making Badminton 4**** in the mud look like a Pony Club track(according to the announcers). They were placed an amazing 15th here with the 8th fastest time xc out of 91 riders. They had many placings at advanced level and 5th at the lead up to the Olympics at Gatcome Parks 3*** British One Day Championships. Getting their names on a Trophy with the best eventers in the world for The Best Placed Youngest Horse and the 2nd fastest time xc incurring only 1.2tf. As reserves with Caroline Powell and Jonelle Richards for the Olympics they went to Burghley instead which was the riders 4****. The xc was MASSIVE she walked it 7 times at 7kms per time trying to make it look smaller but to no avail. Riding this track was the buzz of a lifetime, even better was she got to ride the last proper **** as after this the roads and tracks and steeplechase were taken out. They again had the 8th fastest time out of 81 riders and a clear Show Jumping to finish 7th ahead of Blyth Tait in 8th. Andrew Nicholson was a tremendous supporter and he gave them a cheer from his spot in second place as they received their rossette. Very special event, and incredible end to a dream opportunity thanx to Joss Bayly. The way in which Internet aka Kurt was allowed to travel xc is why they had such quick times as he was not fast at all, but their rhythm hardly changed at each fence. So they would save precious seconds at every fence. He could also use his neck, and body in the most efficient energy saving way because he wasnt restricted.
Redcliffs Equestrian came about when Tim and Kate were fortunate enough to be bought a world class Stallion by friends Rico and Marina, Capatino GNZ is of the best European bloodlines. So because of this they finished eventing and got into Show Jumping. Kate had already whilst eventing produced Tegan Newman with pony Watch Me Move and Amy Kerr with Legally Blonde to Grand Prix level show jumping, Tegan only months later won Pony of the Year. Many top kids have been through Kates lessons and/or camps including Fenella Carter, Sophie Burling, Vicki and Kelly Wilson, Jess Carter, Chloe Phillips Harris, Ellie Bestwick just to name a few. Being able to put confidence into the kids is key. She has also coached many Kerikeri, Bay of Islands and Northland PC Teams. Kate has taken on a more helping out coaching approach in order to face her own sj demons. Plenty of sports psychology and EFT and she can now breath around a sj course. Which has in turn helped her be an even better coach.
Whilst Tim has leapt into coaching with enormous success. Bringing many kids onto jumping Grand Prix in their first season sj. He has a huge want and desire for learning everything there is to know about anything and everything and a photographic memory to take it all in and keep it in there. He and Kate coached the Bay of Islands PCSJ Team to 7 of 8 wins with Kate helping Claude Cook the first year. It had never been won that many times before in a row and perhaps never will again. Tim has spent hours, days, weeks, months and years developing a systematic approach to his coaching via Horsemanship, Phillippe Carls Classical Dressage and Andrew McLeans Scientific methods. We are very excited to have found a Show Jumping Coach Albert Voorn. He has so many great patterns and theories that match our own. he has videos to buy on the internet for anyone that is interested. The proof is in the pudding with the success of so many students at so many shows, consistancy showing the methods work. Last year at HOY he had Oli Croucher and Jayden Horsfall with 4 horses in the POY and they rode amazingly. Oli this season has stepped up to Young Riders.
Tim had many success' at Horse of the Year Show this year with most riders coming home with big smilies and loads of Sashes and ribbons. A highlight being his Kaimanawa Redcliifs Ted winning a 5th and 6th in 2 1.05 classes, doing his first 1.15 in style and 3rd inPC teams event with Keira Page, and Kates Kaimanawa Redcliffs Bill winning the 1.20 and 8th in the PONY OF THE YEAR with Georgia Bouzaid and our youngest wee 9yr old Livy Teixiera bringing home bucket loads of ribbons including 3rd in Rising Stars!!!
Tim has had a fabulous season competing himself, thank goodness as the Capatino GNZ progeny are getting close to being started and there are far too many for only Kate to compete! He had loads of wins and placings up to Amateur and then did a 1.30 at the end of the season, on Kiwi Supakee which we kindly given a half share by Graeme Hart. So pretty excited for next season.
So the horse that put us on this new path - Holsteiner stallion 'Capatino GNZ'. By Casall Ask who is by Super Sire Caretino. It cannot go un-noticed that Casall Ask and his stallion sons are dominating the Global Champions Tour this season. Casall Ask himself winning the LGCT of Paris last week and placing 3rd in both Antwerp and Monaco. His stallion sons have also shown their force with Casello winning in Hamburg in May and Casallo Z just won in Estoril overnight. Casallo Z also came 2nd in Monaco. Caracas had a podium 2nd in Mexico City and a 9th in Chantilly. Other Casall Ask sons Alicante (9th in Monaco) and Chesall Zimequest (10th in Shanghi) also took home prizemoney. Casall Ask you are indeed a living legend. No other stallion in history can claim such results while he himself remains sound and at the top of the sport!

Super excited to have found Scoot Boots, did loads of great sneaky turns and angles for 2 wins and 2 5ths at the last show of the season.
We like our horses to enjoy their lives in lots of ways, being in a herd, being barefoot, ridden bitless at home, and some in competition, stallions living with their mares and foals, riding at the beach!! Variety is the spice of life they say!!
